Experience Required: This trip is suitable for keen walkers who can walk for 6–7 hours a day with a light rucksack. Some of the days are quite long, and the walking feels more strenuous at altitude. Generally, the trail is a good track, but occasionally it will be uneven and rocky.

 

Food & Accommodation: While hiking, you will stay in a tea house. Tea houses are simple, local-run guesthouses with twin-share or single rooms. Toilets and showers are of varying standards.

 

The typical food available for lunch and dinner is Nepali rice and lentils, pasta, potato dishes, soups, and pizzas. After our brief excursion in Kathmandu, we take a 45-minute flight from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj, situated in west Nepal. Nepalgunj is a town near the border with Nepal and India. The city itself is a fascinating town in Terai, highlighting Nepal's rich population. We frequent the local market in Nepalgunj and neighbouring villages. Stay the night in Nepalgunj.

After an early breakfast, we abandon the Terai of Nepalgunj and fly towards the hilly terrain of Jumla, one of the least accessible districts in Nepal. It presents beautiful scenery of the western part of Nepal. Jumla is also the entryway for trekkers seeking to reach the isolated Karnali valley of Nepal, positioned at the foothills of the Sisne Himal. Stay overnight at Jumla.

On the first day of the hike, we abandon Jumla and ascend up to Chere Chaur along the path of Jugad Khola. Then we visit Khalanga Bazzar along our route. It is a small marketplace for the villages in this region. We'll travel through lovely villages and a temple before moving towards the inside of our target. Stay overnight at Chere Chaur.

We take the western path from Chere Chaur and slowly climb to the Jaljala Pass (3580 m). We cross the pass and walk on a fairly straight path before we reach Jaljala Chaur. From here, we ascend a steep path and traverse the circuit of the Rara Lake before entering Chalachaur. Stay overnight at Chalachaur.

This is a steep walk to the valley of Sinja. We visit many villages along the way and walk along the Jaljala Khola. The Sinja Valley occupies a significant role in Nepal's history. The valley houses the Khasa Kingdom's ancient capital city that ruled the area from the 12th to the 14th century. During excavations conducted by the Department of Archaeology at Cambridge University, palaces, mosques, and the ancient ruins of a city were discovered. Stay Overnight in the valley of Sinja.

We depart Sinja on an uphill path across the Hima River. For a little while, we ascend a steep path from the village, followed by a very quick road up to Laha. It is a steep climb across Ghatte Khola, from Laha to Ghorosingha. Stay overnight at Ghorosingha.

After breakfast, we begin our steep ascent route to Rara Lake. Our path is across Chuchhemara, from where we can enjoy the Himalayan panoramic view, the large and silent Rara Lake, and the beautiful Rara National Park forest. We visit Khatyar Khola Camp on the way to Rara Lake and the villages of Murma. The ascent from Murma is becoming a little simpler. Rara Lake is Nepal's largest and deepest freshwater lake. After breakfast, we explore the vast blue waters of the Lake of the Rara. Here you’ll find picturesque lake scenery and quite a few fish varieties. Rara Peak is situated on the southern side of Rara Lake, while the peaks of Ruma Kand and Malika Kand surround its northern portion. Stay overnight at Lake Rara.

Our trail is easy from Rara Lake, and we walk on a relatively straight path to Gamgadhi, the headquarters of the remote Mugu District. We descend on a steep trail from Gamgadhi to the village of Pina. Stay overnight at Pina Village.

We descend from Pina and traverse the 3,480-meter Ghurchi Lagna Pass. We begin our descent and pass a few villages before arriving in Bumra. The village of Bumra is also known as Nauri Ghat. Stay overnight in Burma.

We pass two bridges across the Hima River, then travel It's downhill. After hiking for a few hours, we arrive at a hot spring where we can relax. Take a bath and relax.
